Keep Your Kitchen at its Best
Posted on August 18, 2010 · Leave a CommentThink quick! Your Corbin Crossing neighbors are coming over, and your place, especially the kitchen, looks a mess. What do you do????
Hopefully I can help you with this problem before it even gets that far! Sometimes, the kitchen can be the hardest thing to keep clean. Besides keeping the sink overloaded, you have the floor that’s vulnerable to all spills and scuffs, and you have the kitchen table that stays sticky or can get possibly scratched. Here’s a couple things you can do to make sure your kitchen stays protected and ready to take a punch:
The table
When you’re deciding on what kind of kitchen table to buy, consider what kind of material you’re buying. Go for things that can easily hide stains and those of tougher materials. You can also purchase table mats to use when eating, or when you’re doing work at the table to prevent scratches and other marks.
A crisp white top is one of my favorites in a modern kitchen. Plastic laminate is an inexpensive solution and looks great mounted to Baltic birch with the layers of wood exposed on the edges. Over time, plastic laminate can stain, scratch or chip. Opt for surfaces like Corian, which is very durable.
Chair and barstools:
Chairs can also take the hardest hits, from spills, fingerprints, kitchen utensils and more. Try to get durable plastic, metal or wood chairs because they can be easily cleaned. If you would like chairs with fabrics, try Sunbrella, Crypton and Nano-Tex brands.
Hopefully these tips will help!
And if you have chairs and tables that aren’t as easy to clean as the ones listed, what do you do to keep yours clean?

What’s up for Tonight?
Posted on August 10, 2010 · Leave a CommentHow about “Beauty and the Beast?” I absolutely LOVED the Disney film, so I am definitely excited about seeing the play. If you’re up to enjoying a great theatrical performance, then I suggest you come out to Starlight Theatre tonight!
From what I hear, it’s an entertaining musical spectacle of the movie. It’s been one of Broadway’s best love stories. I can’t wait until the cast sings “Be Our Guest;” I might end up on stage myself!
The show starts at 8:00 p.m. All guests (kids and adults) are welcomed!

Can’t make it tonight? It’s okay! The last showing is Sunday, August 15th!

Looking Good! Is that New?
Posted on August 9, 2010 · Leave a CommentSo you need to know how to get that stain out of your favorite shirt…. or how about getting ready to put on your favorite bangle and realize that it’s now silver… and rusty. Although there are some items that we can’t salvage, there are some that can be. Here are some tips that we can use to keep our clothing and accessories looking just as fresh as the day you bought it:
- Don’t dry that! If the stain hasn’t been removed completely, you should not put it in the dryer because the heat will only make the stain more stubborn, thus leaving a spot on your favorite white shirt.
- For static issues, rub a wire hanger across the garment before putting it on. You can also use fabric softener sheets or add a little bit of vinegar to your wash load. Vinegar helps remove soap residue and softens your clothing. These can be found at your local Super Walmart.
- Wrap costume jewelry in a soft cloth and seal them in an airtight bag/box to keep them looking less tarnished.
What are some things you do to keep your items looking new?
